Many good people I worked with in the past decade are working for companies that took layoffs around Christmas to January 2017. It is unsettling to be in an environment of layoff, but this is the time, when being an encouraging family member or friend can make such a big difference.
Here are some tips for those looking for work now.
1. What are the high growth companies? Business Journal compiled a list of the ten companies doing the most hiring, NOW for the higher paying jobs.
2. Optimize your LinkedIn Profile for a job search
3. Reach out to your true friends who have worked with you and know what your skills are ask for help or referrals. Too often we let pride get in the way of our most practical career utility. If 90% of jobs are found through networking, why would you not include this in your strategy. And aside from being your friend, why would they also not refer you for a job. In many companies THEY get a bonus if you get hired, so isnt that win win win???
3. Are there best practice organizations that can keep skills sharp and might have job leads?
